Write to us about your nominee and what she means to you. What kind of woman is she? Has she done something special for her community, her family, the environment, or maybe for you? Or, is she an everyday heroine who deserves a treat?

In your words, explain how a week of incredible surf, relaxing yoga and massage, delicious local food, and, most of all fun,
would lighten her life.

Scholarship will include donations from the following:

Las Olas donates full tuition for a seven day/six night surf safari, including daily surf and yoga classes, spa treatment, daily breakfast and ground transportation. See Las Olas website for inclusions.		Sherpani Lifestyle Bags for Women donates airfare to the Las Olas safari location from any major airport in the continental US. Also, Sherpani also includes a three piece set of eye-catching luggage for your surf safari gear.		Athleta donates a $500 Gift Card so the scholarship recipient can shop for a surf-worthy wardrobe from their collection of hip, feminine designs with a performance core.

How to submit a scholarship nomination: In 250 words or less, write your reasons for nominating the woman you feel deserves the scholarship. Email your essay to: : scholarship@surflasolas.com

How To Nominate:

Submit an essay of 250 words or less via email to scholarship@surflasolas.com. Describe why your nominee deserves a surf vacation at Las Olas surf safaris for women.

Submissions will be accepted beginning June 10, 2010 at 12pm PST through June 21, 2010 at 11:59pm PST. Limit one entry per person. Multiple submissions by the same person using one or more e-mail accounts will not be accepted.

Writers must obtain permission from the nominee before submitting any essay and all entrants must agree to allow the submission to be published on the La Playa blog. Writers must agree to editing for grammar and puncuation, if necessary, prior to publishing. Writers and nominees grant permission to publish essay for no compensation.

Up to ten submissions will be selected by the Las Olas panel of judges and posted on the Las Olas La Playa blog page for review and voting by visitors from July 1, 2010 until end of the day July 15, 2010. The story with the most votes wins. One vote per person, please.  

The Scholarship will be announced on July 29, 2010.

Judging

Up to ten nomination submissions will be selected by our panel based on, but not limited to, the following criteria:

Is the story inspiring?

Is the story clear and concise?

Is the story accurate?

Is the nominee deserving?

All entries must be submitted from a valid e-mail account, which may be identified by a reverse domain name search or other means. 

Failure to follow any part of the official rules can lead to disqualification and eligibility for the Las Olas Scholarship. 

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY

Recipients of the Las Olas Surf Safari Scholarship must be legal residents of the United States and the District of Columbia, excluding Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico and must be age 18 or older. Employees of participating donors including Las Olas Surf Safaris for Women, Manifesta Corp., Gap Inc., Athleta, Sherpani Inc., their affiliates, vendors, distributors, advertising and promotional agencies are not eligible to participate in the Las Olas Surf Safari Scholarship.

Sister Scholarship includes the following:

Airfare from an international airport within the continental United States provided by Sherpani. Click here for a list of available airports.

Three piece set of Sherpani luggage including Meridian 22”, Solstice 20”, and Sojourn tote bag.  

Athleta Gift Card valued at $500 (retail) so the scholarship recipient can shop for a surf-worthy wardrobe from their collection of hip, feminine designs with a performance core.

Scholarship must be redeemed for any scheduled Las Olas surf safari by June 9, 2011.

All other incidental travel charges must be paid by scholarship recipient.

General Release. By entering and/or accepting the scholarship, you release Manifesta Corporation and participating donors as well as any of their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agencies from any liability whatsoever, and waive any and all causes of action, for any claims, costs, injuries, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the giveaway or acceptance, possession or use of the award, whether under a theory of contract, tort or warranty or other theory. As a condition of being awarded the scholarship, you will be required to execute a signed acceptance of these official rules and release of liability. Except where prohibited by law, entry and/or acceptance of scholarship constitutes permission for Manifesta Corporation to use your name, address, statements, biography, image, and/or likeness for promotional purposes without further compensation.

Miscellaneous. The scholarship award and these official rules will be governed, construed and interpreted under the laws of the United States. You agree to be bound by these official rules and by the decisions of Manifesta Corporation, which are final and binding in all respects. Manifesta Corporation reserves the right to suspend or cancel the scholarship or your participation should viruses, bugs, unauthorized human intervention or other causes beyond Manifesta's control affect the administration, security or proper play of the scholarship. If you violate these official rules, tamper with the operation of the voting or engage in any other misconduct, you are subject to disqualification. Manifesta Corporation reserves the right to lock out persons whose eligibility is in question or who have been disqualified or are otherwise ineligible to receive the scholarship.
